Holly Hiltner-Fullmer, Psy.D.
Dr. Hiltner-Fullmer ‘Dr. Hiltner’ has a particular interest in working with trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, panic, stress, adjustment disorders, grief, and loss. Her experience includes helping adults with histories of childhood trauma, combat and/or deployment-related trauma, sexual trauma, including Military Sexual Trauma (MST), complex trauma, as well as non-military trauma. Dr. Hiltner also supports those navigating life transitions, end-of-life experiences, attachment difficulties, relationship/social challenges, educational and work-related/occupational difficulties, and mental health symptoms secondary to chronic medical conditions. She specializes in providing individual psychotherapy to military service members and their adult dependents, Veterans, Department of Defense (DoD) civilians, and Federal employees. She also offers psychotherapy to adult and geriatric civilians. Her clientele has included individuals who served during the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War (Operation Desert Shield/ Desert Storm), and the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq - Operation Enduring Freedom / Operation Iraqi Freedom / Operation New Dawn (OEF/OIF/OND).
Prior to starting De-stress Psychological Services, LLC, Dr. Hiltner worked at the Martinsburg Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, where she conducted psychological assessments and provided individual and group psychotherapy to Veterans in outpatient and residential treatment programs. Later, she provided brief mental health and behavioral interventions to Veterans in Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) at the Fort Detrick VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). Dr. Hiltner also worked for the US Army Medical Command (ARMC) at Fort George G. Meade (civilian employee) where she provided behavioral health services to Active-Duty Service Members and members of the National Guard and Reserves, including enlisted and officer ranks. Prior to that, she provided non-medical counseling services to Marines, Sailors/Navy, and their dependents at the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar in California.
Regarding her education and training, Dr. Hiltner completed her psychology internship at the Huntington VA Medical Center (VAMC) (currently Hershel "Woody" Williams VAMC). She completed her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Washington, D.C. As a graduate student, she trained in an advanced practicum at the Martinsburg VAMC. Following graduation, she was hired by the Martinsburg VAMC where she completed her post-doctoral supervision. While there, she received an I CARE Recognition Certificate for demonstrating the I CARE Core Value of Advocacy in the work performed with Veterans.
Dr. Hiltner has considerable training and experience providing Evidence-Based Psychotherapy (EBP), including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) and behavioral interventions for stress management, sleep hygiene, weight management, and healthy eating.
Dr. Hiltner is an Out-Of-Network provider. She offers in-person sessions and teletherapy (online). She is a Licensed Psychologist in Maryland (active status), and is also licensed in California (inactive status)
